Casey Anthony was found not guilty on all accounts regarding the death of her child, Caylee. The only thing she was found guilty of were the four counts of misleading the police. Simple misdemeanors that would get her 4 years in prison max. Considering she’s already spent three in jail waiting for this trial, she probably won’t have to serve any more jail time.
Justice was not served, unfortunately.
Frankly myself and the rest of America are shocked. I figured she would at least be found guilty of the aggravated manslaughter charge. At the very least. That’s what the defense was arguing people! The defense was claiming that Caylee drowned in the pool. Leaving a child unattended in a pool (where I think the ladder was removed?) is reckless. My little sister is a great swimmer (we have a pool and she is in it allll the time. she was even on a swim team and is thinking of rejoining.) and she just loves the water. But is she ever left alone? Does she swim alone? Hell no.
This whole case is just a mess. I don’t understand and I wish I could have been there for the deliberation.
Speaking of the jury… why is Nancy Grace tweeting that juror #2 said during jury selection that he could not find someone guilty?? What is up with that; how did he get on the jury then? I guess these were probably the only 12 people that hadn’t been following the case.. but if roles were reversed, and that he said he couldn’t find anyone innocent, that would be cause for Casey to file for an appeal. Of course, the suspect gets a ‘do over’ if they don’t like the outcome. Not the prosecution though.
Baez did at least talk about Caylee in his statements after the trial was dismissed. (Granted, the dude before him sounded like a jerk saying ‘screw you prosecution we won!’ so he probably figured this was his chance to look like a good guy. Regardless of his motives, it was still nice to hear.)
I just wonder if the jury really understood what beyond a reasonable doubt means…
The cherry on top of it all is, because Casey was found not guilty, if she gets a book or movie deal etc… she gets to profit from them and keep the money. (If she was found guilty then I’m assuming the Son of Sam laws would come into play.) This case just pisses me off; I can’t talk about it anymore without getting the feeling I’m going to be literally sick.
I can’t think about it anymore either, it makes me sick. And to see Casey giggling, not balling or crawling on her knees thank god for her freedom, but smiling. AND not even thinking of her dead child!
I agree with you the lawyer before Baez was a total ass. He basically just bragged about winning the case. HELLOO what about Caylee the llittle girl who passed, the little girl who never had lived her life. Thank God Baez mentioned Caylee, that made me respect him more, and he even admitted that he had mixed feelings about the outcome, which means he truly knows what Casey did…
If I see Casey with a book out or an interview in a magazine, it will take all of me not to steal all of them and burn them..
